How we use AI

StorySpark uses an AI model to write stories and to make reading practice feel alive. Everything on this page is generated from the provider StorySpark is actually connected to — it cannot go stale.

What the AI does

  • Writes the story chapters you read.
  • Suggests choices and reflection questions.
  • Gives practice feedback on answers. This is practice, not a grade — no school or decision-maker sees it, and grown-ups can disregard it.

What the AI never receives

  • Your child’s name, age, or any other detail about them.
  • Your email address or password.
  • Anything beyond the story text and settings needed to write the next part.

Where it runs

  • Intermediary: openrouter.ai (OpenRouter, a US company). It forwards each request to a model provider and does not write the story itself.
  • Model providers: every request is pinned to providers located in the EU/EEA. Data collection is denied and zero data retention is required, so prompts are neither kept nor used for training.
  • Because OpenRouter is a US company, our contact with it is a transfer of data outside the EU. It rests on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses. The story text itself is processed by the EU-located providers. See the Privacy Policy.
  • Model: mistralai/mistral-nemo.
  • Safety classifier: openai/gpt-oss-safeguard-20b — it checks the words entered for a story before any writing starts and turns away anything unsafe.

Spotted something wrong?

AI makes mistakes. If a story or feedback seems wrong or unsuitable, tell us at bjorn@nerdblom.se and we will look at it.

What to check

  • Does the story fit your child’s age? Adjust chapter length and language level in student settings.
  • Read the practice feedback together. It is a suggestion, never a grade.
  • Check the questions your child answers — the answer and the AI feedback sit side by side.
  • If a story feels wrong, use Stop sharing and delete the story, then tell us.
